Hello, I'm Joy Byrne, a civil celebrant totally committed to helping you create the ceremony of your dreams. My goal is simply to guide you through 'your day your way' as this is surely one of the most breathtaking days of your life, a celebration of love, a celebration of life.

It has been said 'time should not be measured by how many breaths we take, rather by the moments that take our breath away'.....

Your unique relationship may have lead to a wedding ceremony. This is an occasion where you publicly declare your own amazing journey, where you developed a connection and understanding with a soulmate, an inexplicable love which you choose to honour with ceremony. 

This is a ceremony or service which reflects your appreciation of the undeniable value of that other person in your life and the importance you place on your shared, new life. It defines your destiny now as two individuals joining as one, publically declaring the union of these two lives with the exchange vows and promises. You will wish to create cherished and everlasting memories of this special day of commitment, and remember it for all the right reasons.

A commitment ceremony is exactly the same, it just does not require the legal components or paperwork, but embraces the promises and celebrates with the same intensity. Certificates are signed, lives are joined in a public affirmation of a special and significant joining of two lives.

You may wish to publicly host an event to joyfully acknowledge the birth of a child, an amazing and new little person who has come into your lives, lives that will be forever changed  This special event, this naming day will welcome that distinctive  little soul into his/her new circle of family and friends, a support network which is there for a lifetime.  This public naming will be a statement of everyone who is present, committing to that personâs wellbeing for the rest of his/her life.

When a love one passes, it is a time to truly celebrate their life and the impact on everyone around them.  This is a time to celebrate with love and laughter, as well as tears.  A farewell is  a commemorative event, a memorial service.  This will be enhanced with moving music, words of tribute, and words of thanks. It needs to be handled with a great deal of sensitivity and respect but also needs to draw out the incredible and everlasting influence that person has had on everyone around him/her.  Their memories will live on and effect all they have touched and this needs to be publicly acknowledged with skill and care.

Even pets can be farewelled at a pet funeral the same way to bring closure for loving pet owners.

Other ceremonies are available for milestone events such as birthdays, not only coming of age at 18 or 21 years but 30, 40, 50, 60, 65 years, all significant!  Other celebrations could be that of a graduation, boat naming, croning (women reaching 50 and the wisdom age).

As well as officiating at the ceremonies, I assist with ideas to make your day or evening more colourful and memorable.Rituals can be used for visual effect.  Sand ceremony, candle lighting ceremony, rose giving ceremony, chocolate ceremony, exchange of coins, releasing doves, releasing helium balloons.  A memorable book or power point presentation is a great way to recall this significant event.  I provide a book of ideas for each ceremony and follow up meetings to assist in bringing all those ideas together.
