Weddings Namings Life Celebrations

About Joy

I became a celebrant in September 2007 and have conducted in the vicinity of two hundred  weddings within the Toowoomba region. It is a wonderful work choice as you share in the most special and joyful moments in peoples lives and capture that bubble of happiness.

My interest in this work was born from my long term interest in “people”. In my early 20’s I became a Lifeline Telephone Counsellor and also was actively involved in teaching public speaking in high schools as a member of the Toastmasters club. I worked for over 20 years in the medical field as a medical receptionist and as a practice manager, working for both specialists and GP’s, having not achieved my dream with nursing. Lately I have been more drawn to studies in personal development and success coaching and the way people can achieve their dreams.

I have been married for 22 years, my husband Brian runs an Electrical Contracting Business which I am actively involved with. We have two sons aged 20 and 17 who are already working in the family business. Our home is nestled in the hills at Preston, just outside Toowoomba and we have been fortunate to live on acreage with our animal friends, a really good environment for growing boys. We all spend time at the gym and the boys are passionate water skiers.

To become a celebrant, I attended a professional training course and am answerable to the Attorney General’s Department. We must adhere to a Code of Practice and keep a professional standard at all times. One learns something new with every wedding and research into new and interesting methods and ideas is constant.

I am a JP (Qual) and a member of the Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants. We constantly do upgrade courses and attend seminars, professional development is one of the requirements to stay registered.
